Mechanical Engineer (Greenwood Village, CO)

Designs hardware for satellites in order to monitor space weather. 

Job duties include:

· Design and develop frames, structural mounts, housings and mechanical interfaces for satellite instruments using SolidWorks.

· Perform detailed engineering analyses, including GD&T, tolerance stacks, fit checks, and manufacturability reviews.

· Operate, program, and maintain CNC equipment to manufacture prototype components and ensure precise dimensional accuracy.

· Oversee the operation, routine maintenance, and safety procedures of the clean-room vacuum chamber system.

· Maintain clean-room protocols, ensuring proper handling, contamination control, and cleanliness standards for space hardware.

· Review, verify, and approve CAD models and mechanical drawings submitted by external partners to ensure compatibility with internal designs.

· Communicate design modifications and collaborate with external vendors and partners to resolve mechanical interface issues.

· Lead mechanical prototyping, test fitting, and integration of components for space system development.

· Assist the aerospace-side engineering team with mechanical/electrical integration tasks, including mounting instruments, routing harnesses, and preparing assemblies.

· Support company operations by helping rearrange equipment, organize shop spaces, and support infrastructure tasks as needed.


Requirements: 

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; some coursework in materials and manufacturing or fabrication; 6 months of experience in the following skills:

- CAD modeling for 3U and 6U satellites 

- Designing small mechanical housing and cases for 3U satellite systems.

- Space weather and orbital paths for satellites

- Terrestrial and Space weather dynamics 

Salary: $84,000 - $85,000
